After a much-needed summer that featured many re-openings, it's hard to believe it's coming to an end as cool nights and fallen leaves are fast approaching.
For restaurants at the Shore, that means many favorites will be closing.
Some owners say they will stay open as long as the weather cooperates, while others are ready to lock the doors. Here' a look at some of the most popular eateries and their closing dates:

9th Ave. Pier, Belmar: Remaining open while the weather is nice, but only on weekends: 4 p.m. to midnight Fridays, 11:30 a.m. to midnight Saturdays, and 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sundays. 905 River Road, Route 35.; 9thavepier.com.
Avon Pavilion, Avon: Closed Sept. 6. 600 Ocean Ave.; avonpavilion.com.
Biggy's Beach Grill, North Beach Haven: Official date not yet announced, but the restaurant is only open Fridays through Sundays after Labor Day. 1301 Long Beach Blvd.; biggysbeachgrill.com.

Bird and Betty's, Beach Haven: Closes Oct. 31. 529 Dock Road; birdandbettys.com.
The Boondocks Fishery, Red Bank: Closes Sept. 16. As of Labor Day, open 4 to 9 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and noon to 9 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. 1 Marine Park; theboondocksfishery.com.
Boulevard Clams, Surf City: Official date not announced, but closing sometime after Labor Day. 2006 Long Beach Blvd.; boulevardclams.net.
The Chicken or the Egg, Beach Haven: Open year-round but will release a modified off-season schedule toward summer's end. 207 North Bay Ave.; 492fowl.com.
Crêperie de la Mer, Beach Haven: Open through the end of November. Due to limited staff, in September, Thursdays and Fridays are drinks and pastries only; Saturdays and Sundays are sweet crepes. The Food Shack, Point Pleasant Beach: Closes for the season on Oct. 24, but closed Wednesdays as of Labor Day. 1000 Ocean Ave.; foodshacknj.com.

Strollo's Lighthouse Italian Ice, various locations: West End location closes mid- to late September, the shop in the Belford section of Middletown closes Oct. 10, and Long Branch and Red Bank locations close at the end of October.
