Donkey Kong And The Gang Join Lego Super Mario Range
The Lego Super Mario range of toys is getting a few new members soon in the form of the iconic Donkey Kong characters. Aside from the Nintendo franchise's recognizable titular protagonist, other figures that are set to join the fray include Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong, Cranky Kong, and Funky Kong so if you're a fan of this classic video game series, then this is a release you won't want to miss.
These new models were recently revealed through a Twitter post from the official Lego account, which included a short clip of the previously mentioned characters. Unfortunately, a release date for these figures is still yet to be revealed so those looking forward to adding them to their collection will have to remain patient a little longer.
As noted in the teaser clip, each figure will be sold separately, which means getting them all together may end up costing you a pretty penny. Once you do get them, though, you'll be able to add the family to your creative Lego set up seamlessly together with some of the other Super Mario figures you already have.
This would also give you the chance to recreate some of the most memorable scenes in the recent Super Mario Bros. Movie. If you're an old school gamer, then this will allow you to bring a few classic video game moments to life instead featuring Donkey Kong throwing an endless barrage of barrels at everyone's favorite plumber.
However, it's currently unclear whether more members of the iconic Kong Family are going to be introduced in the future since there are still a few notable names that are missing from the list, like Lanky and Swanky Kong. But with most of the gang already set to join the group, it may only be a matter of time until the rest of them are revealed.

LEGO Teases Donkey Kong Sets For Super Mario Collection
Last month, The LEGO Group unveiled plans to introduce Donkey Kong to the Super Mario collection, and now they have provided a sneak peek of the sets we can expect to see this coming summer revealing some fun details.
The Danish toy manufacturer revealed the sets on their Twitter account, with the statement "We can't wait to show you the new additions to the world of LEGO Super Mario™! 🤩". Since there is a disclaimer about sets being sold separately, we can assume there are multiple products incoming.
The brief 15-second clip showcases various Donkey Kong characters in brick form such as Diddy, Cranky, and Funky, accompanied by the tagline, "There's a Kong in every kid." These are just sneak peeks of what will be included in the sets themselves.
Hopefully, we will be able to see additional DK LEGO sets before they become available in stores, including a Donkey Kong-themed set proposed by a fan and submitted as a LEGO Idea. As of writing, the proposal has garnered 5,370 supporters with 516 days remaining and requires 10,000 votes to have a chance of being produced as an actual set.
Created by Shigeru Miyamoto, Donkey Kong has consistently been one of the most beloved video game franchises since its first appearance in the eponymous game in 1981. The fictional gorilla has made numerous appearances in various games and films, most recently in Nintendo's successful animated film, The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
Speaking of LEGO, 2K Games partnered with The LEGO Group last year to develop a series of Lego-based sports games, including the upcoming LEGO 2K Drive. As per a representative of 2K Games, the racing game will operate as a live-service game, featuring real money microtransactions.
LEGO 2K Drive is scheduled to be released on May 19 for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
ASK THE VET: Tennis Balls Grind Down Dogs' Teeth Like Sandpaper
Editors Note: Lee Pickett is on vacation. This column first appeared in April 2019.
Q: Baxter, my 5-year-old retriever mix, broke a tooth while gnawing on a bone. The veterinarian extracted the fractured tooth and remarked that Baxter's enamel was badly worn, probably from chewing on tennis balls. Can you suggest some safe chew toys?
A: The nylon fuzz on tennis balls damages enamel two ways: It's abrasive, even when clean, and it picks up dirt that acts like sandpaper on teeth.
For that reason, I gave our golden retriever ball-hound, Sam, smooth racquetball balls, but he chewed them to bits and swallowed the pieces. Fortunately, his tummy rejected them, so I didn't have to surgically remove them. But that was the end of his racquetball fun -- and a lesson for us all.
You learned an expensive lesson about rigid chew toys: Anything harder than teeth breaks teeth. The list includes natural and nylon bones, antlers, cow hooves, dried pig ears, hard plastic chew toys and even ice cubes.
Safe chew toys have some "give." Most dogs can safely chew firm, rubber toys, which are available in a variety of shapes. Kong black toys are good for power chewers, but if Baxter destroys one, you'll need to ask your veterinarian to order the nearly indestructible Kong blue toys.
Make the toy more fun by hiding a treat, some peanut butter or frozen canned dog food inside. In addition, offer Baxter a twisted rope toy and some dental chews.
Also, increase Baxter's physical activity to tire him out before he settles down with his chew toys.
Q: My friend has a liquid potpourri pot that scents her home with a welcoming fragrance. I want to get one too, but I'm concerned about my cat's safety. Please advise.
A: Your concern is warranted. Cats are more sensitive than most species to the essential oils found in reed diffusers, electric diffusers and simmer pots that hold liquid potpourri.
Most such products contain not just essential oils but also cationic detergents that are corrosive, particularly to the gums and tongue.
If your cat were to investigate your liquid potpourri by putting a paw in the pot and then licking her paw while grooming, toxic signs would be evident within four to 12 hours. They include burns and ulcers in the mouth, drooling, gagging, emesis, loss of appetite, coughing, breathing difficulties, hiding, lethargy and fever.
Essential oils can be used safely around pets if precautions are taken:
Allow pets the option of leaving the room since they are very sensitive to odor.
Don't use your diffuser or liquid potpourri pot in an enclosed space or for longer than 30 minutes at a time.
Position the diffuser so it doesn't spray oil on pets or their bedding or dishes.
Use diluted essential oils, which are less toxic than concentrates.
Remain in the room when your potpourri pot is in use, especially if it is warmed by a candle. Put your pot away when you're not using it.
